I have said all year that Japan is hot right now. I feel like everyone is going! With all the images and stories I hear about Japan, it seems like a wonderful place(and somewhere I want to visit ASAP). It goes without saying that Tokyo and Kyoto are where most travelers head to, but lucky for me my friend Erik studied abroad in Japan a handful of years back (and is still fluent in the language). He let me (and now you!) in on some of the hidden gems of this wonderful country. I hope you enjoy!- A
Isehara is a special place. I spent several study tours and a semester abroad in its beauty. During my senior year of high school I was able to don the official uniform and attend private school at Kojo High (Koujou Shiritsu Koukou). Isehara is a city located in Kanagawa prefecture. Primarily associated with Yokohama, Kanagawa is home to both inland (iinaka), traditional Japanese hues like the Daibutsu in Kamakura, as well as the unrivaled shoreline and primetime surf destination Shounan Beach. While the typical traveler to Japan only ventures a few steps out of Tokyo, if there’s any advice I can impart: the other prefectures in the Kanto region are where you can truly experience the true majesty of Japan.
